What We Sing
Gabrieli, Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Brahms, Elgar, Vaughan Williams, Britten, Geilo and a plethora of other composers and styles in between! Concerts with the Nottingham Harmonic Choir offer a wide range of musical experiences in the classical repertoire, from popular works by the most familiar composers to lesser known, rarely performed pieces. Every season brings its own special highlights, as well as an annual highly acclaimed performance of Handel's Messiah and the well loved Family Carols at the Royal Concert Hall.

Where We Perform
The choir performed at the opening of Nottingham's magnificent Royal Concert Hall, which has become a key venue for the Society's concerts. Over the years we have been invited to sing with the Hallé orchestra as part of The Royal Concert Hall's Classics Subscription Series. This has included Prokofiev's Alexander Nevsky with Christian Mandeal, Elgar's The Music Makers with Sir Mark Elder, Walton's Belshazzar's Feast with Rory Macdonald, Poulenc's Gloria with Jonathon Heyward and Orff's Carmina Burana with Gergely Madaras.
The choir also performs in Nottingham's Albert Hall. The Albert Hall offers a relatively intimate venue with great acoustics for impressive concerts at an affordable price. One of the main features of the hall is the world famous Binns organ, which has been fully restored to its former glory and provides a unique backdrop to the Hall's aesthetics. Performances here have included Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle, Brahms' A German Requiem, Haydn's The Creation, Verdi's Requiem, Holst's Hymn of Jesus, Elgar's The Dream of Gerontius and Mendelssohn's Elijah.
Most summers we move to the sublime surroundings of Southwell Minster, where the friendly atmosphere and fine acoustics complement much of the earlier classical repertoire. In this lovely setting we have performed works such as Fauré's Requiem, Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, Britten's A Ceremony of Carols, Arvo Pärt's Beatitudes, Duruflé's Requiem, Bach's Mass in B Minor and St Matthew Passion.
Our season typically includes concerts in November, March and May as well as Handel's Messiah and Family Carols in December. For the upcoming programme, click here
